Luigi Hugues nacque a Casale Monferrato (AL) il 27 ottobre 1836 ma il padre Mathieu (1790-1872) era originario di Abrièz nel Delfinato. Laureatosi in Ingegneria nel 1859, fu docente di Geografia nell’Istituto Tecnico Leardi della sua città natale e poi all’Università di Torino dal 1897 al 1912 ed è considerato uno dei padri fondatori della moderna Geografia… Il lavoro di revisione di Veggetti ha completamente stravolto il testo originale di Hugues che, quindi, pubblichiamo qui per la prima volta in un’edizione moderna. In quest’ottica i duetti recuperano anche il loro valore didattico per quanti vogliano dedicarsi allo studio del flauto romantico sistema completo precedente a quello Boehm attualmente in uso.

Luigi Hugues was born in Casale Monferrato (AL) on October 27^th, 1836 but his father Mathieu (1790-1872) was originally from Abrièz in the Dauphiné. Graduated in Engineering in 1859, he was a professor of Geography at the Leardi Technical Institute in his hometown and then at the University of Turin from 1897 to 1912 and is considered one of the founding fathers of modern geography… Veggetti’s revision work completely overturned Hugues original text which, therefore, we are publishing here for the first time in a modern edition. With this in mind, the duets also recover their didactic value for those who want to devote themselves to the study of the romantic flute complete system preceding the Boehm one currently in use.
